Sports

Our Goal

To engage in an athlete-centred, coach-directed egoless pursuit of excellence.

The department runs a fully-fledged sports programme throughout the year. The programme is designed in such a way that, each and every child is afforded the opportunity to reach their full potential in sport. Our students play in specific age-groups, namely: U14, U15, U16, U17 and seniors. The sports are grouped into two main categories: compulsory and optional, with each student signing up for at least one compulsory sport per term.

Compulsory Sports

Rugby, Hockey, Swimming, Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, Basketball and Cross country.

Optional Sports

Golf, Softball, Squash, Volleyball, Soccer.

The sports programme allocates slots for practice for each sport every week.

There are also inter-house competitions during the year.

We have regular fixtures against other schools.

We host teams and travel throughout Zimbabwe for rugby, hockey, cricket, tennis, swimming, basketball, volleyball and squash.

We have hosted visiting teams from South Africa, the U.K. and our students regularly tour South Africa and Namibia.

The sports department also runs a physical education department. The lessons are time-tabled together with the school academic time table. In forms 1 and two, students are introduced to the basics of physical education, as well as the basic skills and techniques of the compulsory sports. Physical Education is offered as one of the practical subject’s options at form 3 and 4. The students sit for the IGCSE examinations at the end of the two years.
