HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT

The Humanities department is one of the largest departments at Watershed College with ten teaching staff members teaching History and Geography. The department ensures that students emerge with knowledge and skills about the values of different cultures as well as the physical and human environments, the world we live in. Students are enabled to acquire these skills and knowledge in these subjects through Educational tours and field trips which are undertaken every year with every stream / Form taking particular tours or trip. The students over the years benefited from visiting Great Zimbabwe, a national Heritage site, Meteorological station, Watershed farm, Nyakambiri  river, Mutare urban and many processing industries like Bakeries and bottling companies. We also have International tours which are open for all students to give them international exposure. Apart from tours the department has essay competitions every year that encourage students to research on given topics. The department also holds Africa Day and Africa Heritage day commemorations at the school every year to ensure every student gets an opportunity to learn appreciate values in Zimbabwean culture  and  Africa as a continent.

The pass rates in humanities department have been improving over the years for both IGCSE and A LEVEL and it is the department’s endeavour to keep up this high standard of achievements.
