The link between Mental health disorders with the Environment.
Among the dimensions explored, climate change as a global environmental threat creates Psychological distress and anxiety about the future.
Climate change furthermore has direct impact on mental health, for example heat stress, indirectly affects social support systems, cultural traditions and environmental conditions. There is a growing evidence of the link between certain pollutants and mental illnesses such as Depression, Dementia and Suicide.
The Breathe Magazine under its topic Armchair Safari clearly states that the natural world is awash with extraordinary plants, animals and landscapes which can act as therapeutic spaces for post operative patients to recover more quickly if they can see trees outside their windows. A study conducted by the University of East Anglia discovered that visiting green spaces could help to lower the risk of Cardiovascular disease and type 2 Diabetes.
