The building of a Chapel at Watershed College has been part of the development plan since the College’s inception some eleven years ago.
-
In 1989 one of the pupils of the college, Shane Buckley, died tragically. His parents kindly donated a sum of money to be put specifically towards the building of a Chapel in memory of their Son.
-
Then very sadly, in April 1997, one of the College’s teachers, Sarah Buckler, died. Her parents also wished to contribute towards the building of a Chapel in memory of their daughter.
-
They bequeathed Sarah’s pension money towards the Chapel fund. This contribution acted as the catalyst to embark on the construction of the Chapel.
-
The construction of the chapel started immediately. Letters of appeal were sent out by the Chapel Committee (some of which went to the U.K. and Holland). This decision to go ahead and start building using private funds as opposed to School funds was taken by the Headmaster Mr. T. davey and the Board of Governors in 1997.
