Every year as the Interact club we have a Christmas party for the children in the Watershed College workers’ village. This year has been an odd year and we couldn’t have a party for them. However, we couldn’t let Covid-19 stop us. We decided to make them a snack hamper which we prepared through donations from other students since we couldn’t hold any fundraising events.
We teamed up with the Leo club in an effort to boost the donations. Both clubs went around the school at hostel level and collected snacks or money. We collected plenty of snacks and money from the generous students. In total we managed to make more than 90 snack hampers which included biscuits, chips and sweets.
On Wednesday in the morning we packed the hampers per family according to how many children were in that family. Even after packing there were still some extras that were left. All the children were represented by their parents or eldest siblings who came and collected the hampers. It was really a heart touching moment. There was love and smiles all round. Like George R. Bach once said “Caring has the gift of making the ordinary special.” We as the Watershed student body represented by Interact and Leo were able to make a chip and a sweet mean something more.
I would like to thank the Watershed student body for showing much love for these young children and I pray that God will continue to bless us with love for one another. I wish you all Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021.
